The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced plans to establish inclusion committees to enhance engagement with groups representing youth, women, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and ethnic minorities.
In a notice issued on Thursday, October 1, the electoral body invited registered State and non-State organisations serving the four groups to partner with the commission in reaching their respective constituencies.
Eligible organisations have been directed to register at their respective IEBC county offices by October 30, 2026, at 5pm.
During registration, organisations will be required to submit their registration certificate, KRA PIN certificate and indicate the category they represent, whether youth, women, PWDs or ethnic minorities.
They must also provide the name, telephone number and email address of their contact person, as well as their physical address and county of operation.
According to IEBC, the registration will facilitate the formation of county-level teams representing the various categories.
The teams will operate under the commission’s county election management structures, with each category expected to select a team leader under the guidance of the respective IEBC County Election Manager.

The initiative comes days after IEBC rejected claims that foreigners were being registered as voters in Kenya.
In a statement issued on September 27, the commission expressed concern over what it described as misleading and unverified reports about its voter registration exercise and preparations for the upcoming General Election.
IEBC said claims of electoral malpractice, illegal voter transfers and the registration of foreigners had not been supported by credible evidence.
The commission nevertheless said it would investigate and take appropriate action, including disciplinary measures and criminal proceedings, if credible evidence of wrongdoing is presented.
