Kenya Airways adjusted several flight routes on Thursday morning, diverting flights originally bound for Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to Mombasa and Kilimanjaro due to poor visibility caused by adverse weather conditions.
The airline issued a statement notifying passengers of potential delays both in arrivals and departures in Nairobi, emphasizing their commitment to passenger safety and comfort.
“We regret to inform our passengers that this morning, a number of flights scheduled to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport have been diverted to Mombasa and Kilimanjaro, citing poor visibility from adverse weather conditions,” the statement noted.
The airline acknowledged the inconvenience caused and assured travelers that all necessary precautions had been implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of both crew members and passengers.
According to Flight Radar 24 data reviewed since 5:00 am, nine flights were rerouted from JKIA, with four cancellations and four flights experiencing delays.
The situation underscores the impact of unpredictable weather on air travel operations, prompting airlines to take precautionary measures to mitigate disruptions while prioritizing passenger safety.
