Kenyans are being urged to refrain from engaging in any transactions involving numerous plots of land in Embakasi, Nairobi.
On October 29, 2024, the Embakasi Jua Kali Housing Association issued a notice that has sparked confusion, announcing the cancellation of a previous announcement regarding the sale of 516 plots.
In response to an advertisement published by Embakasi Developers Ltd on October 25, the Association’s secretary declared the notice misleading and clarified that the properties are not for sale.
“We, the Embakasi Jua Kali Housing Association, want to inform our members and the general public that the 516 plots,
which were excised from LR NO. 7109/3, LR NO. 7109/4, LR NO. 7109/5, and LR NO. 7109/7, are not available for sale as stated in the advertisement,” the notice stated.
The Association condemned the advertisement as false and misleading, emphasizing that these properties are involved in an ongoing legal dispute.
According to the notice, the Association possesses a court order that prohibits any transactions related to these properties until the legal matters are resolved.
“The properties are part of an ongoing lawsuit in Nairobi ELC No. 1002 of 2015 (O.S.), and the Embakasi Jua Kali Housing Association has a court order restraining any transactions regarding them, including sales, pending the court’s determination,” the notice added.
Members of the Embakasi Jua Kali Housing Association and the public are strongly advised to ignore the misleading advertisement, which the Association has deemed false and potentially harmful.
The Association warns that anyone attempting to conduct transactions based on the erroneous advertisement does so at their own risk.
In a separate development, the government, through the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development, has announced that Kenyans who applied for title deeds between 2015 and 2022 should collect their documents.
The Ministry released a statement on Monday, indicating that it has published a comprehensive list of uncollected title deeds and urging applicants to verify whether their names are on the list.
Kenyans wishing to collect their documents can visit the Ministry’s website at Ministry of Lands to access the complete list.
“We inform our valued customers and the public that the following documents and applications remain uncollected, as detailed in the attached list,” the Ministry of Lands announced.
Those whose names appear on the list are instructed to visit their respective application centers with their original booking forms and a copy of their national identity cards before collecting their documents.
