Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) are the new Kenya Volleyball Federation National League champions after sweeping CHEMA 3-0 in the second match of the best-of-three finals at Kasarani Indoor Arena on Sunday to seal the 2025/26 title with a 2-0 series victory.
After edging CHEMA 3-2 in the opening encounter, the Dockers delivered a dominant performance to win 25-21, 25-20 and 25-21, completing a memorable campaign and ending General Service Unit’s reign as champions.
Most Valuable Player Peter Kamara, captain Dennis Omollo, Best Outside Hitter Kelvin Wanyama, Best Setter Felix Omondi and Best Libero Fredrick Muiruri inspired KPA with disciplined defending, clinical attacks and outstanding teamwork that proved too strong for CHEMA.
“We came prepared, trusted each other and fought for every point. This title is for KPA and every supporter who believed in us,” said one of the jubilant players after the victory.
The packed Kasarani Indoor Arena provided a thrilling atmosphere as fans cheered throughout the contest, but KPA remained composed, controlling the decisive moments to secure the national crown.
Before the final, KPA Managing Director Capt. William Ruto, the team’s patron, sent his best wishes to the players and hundreds of supporters, urging them to bring the title home.
Celebrations erupted after championship point as players, officials and fans stormed the court in jubilation.
Team Manager and Manager Administration Catherine Wangari, standing in for Chairman and General Manager Finance Geoffrey Kavate, joined the celebrations in an emotional moment that reflected the significance of KPA’s historic triumph.
“This is a proud day for KPA. The players have shown discipline, determination and championship character throughout the season,” Wangari said.
The victory marks a historic milestone for KPA, announcing the Dockers as Kenya’s new volleyball champions and a formidable force in the country’s men’s volleyball.
