Lamu Governor Timamy Nominates James Gichu As Deputy Following Munyua’s Passing

Lamu Governor Issa Timamy has officially nominated James Gichu as his new deputy following the recent passing of Raphael Munyua, who held the position until his death last month.

Gichu, who previously served as the County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, is expected to bring valuable experience to the role.

Governor Timamy expressed confidence in Gichu’s capabilities, stating, “James has demonstrated strong leadership and commitment to serving the people of Lamu during his time in the Agriculture portfolio. I believe he will continue to champion our development goals as Deputy Governor.”

Munyua’s sudden death has left a significant void in the county’s leadership, and Timamy emphasized the need for a swift transition to maintain continuity in governance.

Gichu’s nomination will now undergo approval by the County Assembly, where he will face questions regarding his vision for the county and his plans to address pressing issues such as food security and agricultural development.

In his former role, Gichu was instrumental in implementing various agricultural initiatives aimed at improving local food production and supporting farmers in Lamu.

His experience is expected to play a crucial role as the county navigates challenges in the agriculture sector, especially in the wake of Munyua’s loss.

The nomination comes at a time when Lamu is seeking to enhance its economic growth and improve service delivery to residents.

The county government has been focusing on various development projects, including infrastructure improvements and tourism promotion.

As the assembly prepares to deliberate on Gichu’s nomination, residents and stakeholders are hopeful that his appointment will bring fresh energy and ideas to the county’s administration.
