A 48-year-old man was arrested after he assaulted and killed his mother in a quarrel over food in a village in Makuyu, Muranga County.
The body of Teresia Wanjiru Macharia was found in a pool of blood after the assault on May 7.
Police said they found the body outside the kitchen of the woman with deep cuts on the head.
The incident happened at Muhuyo village.
Police said they had established that the suspect confronted his mother demanding food when an argument arose and he severally hit her on the head with a piece of wood.
The blood-stained stick was recovered and kept as an exhibit.
The suspect was arrested while the body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
In Meru, the body of an unknown man was found in the Mathare area.
Police said the body of an unknown male adult aged about 26 years was found with multiple injuries.
