Police are investigating an incident in which a 55-year-old man was electrocuted in a borehole in Muranga County.
The body of Boniface Wainaina was discovered in the 15 feet borehole as he tried to pump water from there.
Police said the incident happened in Kahain village and that the victim was a casual laborer.
Police said the deceased had been holding an electric wire that he was trying to use to pump the water from the borehole.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
Cases of electrocution have been on the rise in the past months.
Police say they receive up to five cases a week in the country.
Officials say poor wiring in customer premises contributed to 24 percent, illegal connections to 16 percent, structures and buildings near power lines to 12 percent, and deliberate acts contributed to 11 percent.
The ten most affected counties are Nakuru, Nairobi Makueni, Kericho, Kisii, Kisumu, Uasin Gishu, Nyamira, Migori, and Kiambu.
