A 40-year-old man stabbed and killed his wife before he tried to die by suicide in Nairobi’s Kasarani area.
Samuel Longututi was found wreathing in pain while the body of his wife Lucy Wanjiku, 35 was found in a pool of blood in their house in the Maji Mazuri area moments after the murder and attempted suicide incident.
A caretaker of an apartment where the couple lives with their two children said the man and woman had picked up a quarrel in the morning before the man reached a kitchen knife that he used in the attack.
He first stabbed the woman in the neck killing her before he also stabbed himself in the same neck.
Neighbors broke into the house and rescued him to the hospital in a serious condition, police said.
The body of the woman was taken to the mortuary pending a probe.
Police said they recovered the blood-stained knife from the scene and kept it as an exhibit.
Police said they were informed the two were quarreling over domestic issues.
