A 43-year-old man died by suicide after he attempted to shoot and kill his girlfriend in Marsabit County.
The two were in Manyatta Makaa in the Mountain location when the deceased identified as Diba Molu shot and injured his girlfriend Miriam Wanjiku on the left side of the eye.
She sustained a slight injury to the ear.
This was after a domestic quarrel that turned violent and deadly.
After the woman fled the scene, the man locked himself in the house and shot himself.
Police who visited the May 11 incident said they recovered a Falcon pistol loaded with five rounds of 9mm.
The victim was taken to Marsabit County referral hospital where she was treated and discharged while the body was removed in the same hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
The man is a licensed gun holder.
Cases of suicide have been on the rise in the recent past.
