Activist Morara Kebaso found himself seeking refuge at the Bomas of Kenya amid chaos that erupted during the public participation exercise concerning the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The turmoil began when Kebaso and his supporters clashed with unknown individuals who were demanding that he leave the venue.
Known for his activism and exposing government corruption, the 28-year-old stood his ground, defiantly raising his fists in a gesture of solidarity.
As he waited his turn to contribute to the public participation exercise, tensions escalated, leading the suspected assailants to hurl chairs in his direction.
The situation quickly deteriorated as more people joined in, prompting Kebaso’s security team to intervene and escort him to safety.
Despite his efforts to remain steadfast, he was overwhelmed by the barrage of chairs and sustained injuries during the altercation.
Similar unrest was reported in Nyeri, where local residents ignited bonfires and took to the streets to protest against the impeachment motion targeting Gachagua.
The public participation exercise is currently taking place across all 47 counties, inviting citizens to share their opinions on the special motion.
