Ugandan Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has responded to criticism regarding his frequent posts on the social media platform X, asserting that it is an integral part of his role.
In his statement, he addressed a user named Julius Friday, who had claimed that excessive posting indicates unprofessionalism.
Muhoozi countered this by explaining that refraining from posting would be neglecting his responsibilities as President Yoweri Museveni’s Special Presidential Advisor for Special Operations.
“I don’t agree with this perspective.
For the first 20 years of my military career, I never made any posts.
I began sharing my thoughts regularly only seven years ago after my appointment as SPA/SO.
In this role, engaging with socio-political and economic issues is essential to my job.
Therefore, it is entirely professional for me to be active on social media.
If my father were to revoke my position, you would no longer see me on Twitter/X,” Muhoozi stated.
As the first son of President Museveni, Muhoozi has become known for his outspoken views on Uganda’s political landscape and issues in neighboring countries.
His controversial remarks have included discussions about invading Kenya and expressing ambitions to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Despite the backlash and the contentious nature of some of his comments, Muhoozi remains undeterred in his social media activity.
