Detectives arrested a murder suspect who had been on the run for more than a month following the death of his younger brother, whom he is accused of setting on fire during a domestic dispute.
The suspect, , was arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Imenti North at Lifestyle Heights Apartments in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
Police said the arrest is linked to the death of Alvin Muguna Kirimi, who sustained severe burn injuries on July 1 after the suspect allegedly poured petrol on him and set him ablaze.
The victim later died while receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Burn Unit at Kenyatta National Hospital.
According to investigators, the suspect had gone into hiding after the incident and had been evading arrest until detectives tracked him to his hideout in Ruiru.
During the arrest, officers recovered a licensed Ceska CZ pistol loaded with 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Police also recovered an additional 75 rounds of 9mm ammunition from the suspect’s possession.
Investigators confirmed that the suspect is a licensed civilian firearm holder and that his firearm certificate.
The suspect remains in lawful police custody and is undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment in court on a murder charge.
And police in Kiambu County have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 28-year-old woman whose body was found inside her rented house in Mumbi area, Githurai Sub-County.
The incident was reported to Kimbo Police Station on Tuesday night by a man who alerted police to the suspected killing.
Police visited the scene and found the body of Tabitha Mwikali lying in a pool of blood on her bed.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased sustained severe head injuries, believed to have been inflicted using a hammer, which detectives recovered at the scene as an exhibit.
Police also established that the woman had suffered a deep cut to the neck.
Crime scene officers from Juja processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to General Kago Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Police said the motive behind the killing has not yet been established, and investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible.
