Murkomen Urges Leaders To Set Good Example For Children

Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen Saturday called on parents and leaders to set a good example for the younger generation.

He said many of the challenges witnessed in schools are a reflection of behaviours exhibited by adults.

Murkomen noted that young people often emulate the conduct they observe from leaders and the broader political culture in the country.

He urged leaders at all levels to demonstrate responsibility and discipline, as they serve as role models to the youth.

“As leaders, we need to set example to the children for a better future,” he said.

Murkomen was speaking in Kipsaos, Keiyo South Constituency, Elgeyo-Marakwet County, during a thanksgiving service and the Annual General Meeting of Kipsaos Boys High School.

His comments come in the wake of the killing of 16 students at Utumishi Girls in Gilgil.

Police said they are investigating arson and murder in the incident and eight students are in custody over the same.

The students are being detained at various police cells in the area amid investigations.

He was accompanied by ICT and Digital Economy PS John Tanui, MPs Gideon Kimaiyo (Keiyo South), Adams Kipsanai (Keiyo North), Elgeyo Marakwet Deputy Governor Prof. Grace Cheserek, Speaker Lawi Kibire, businessman Kimutai Sirma, MCAs, among other leaders.
