Mystery surrounds the circumstances under which a handcuffed remanded suspect escaped from a hospital bed in Nairobi.
Joseph Mungai Njoki, 19 had been admitted to Mbagathi Hospital in the city after suffering cholera.
The suspect was being taken care of by three prison warders at the hospital in an isolation ward after suffering cholera at his Industrial Area Remand cell.
The warders reported to police they realized he was missing on Monday night at about 9 pm.
They said the suspect who was facing stealing charges had been handcuffed against his bed but it is not clear how he managed to leave the cuffs there and escaped.
Police have since been alerted to help in searching for the suspect and take necessary action
