Nairobi City County has identified areas for the operation of nightclubs months after Governor Sakaja ordered their closure in residential areas.
Sakaja during the Nairobi County Second Wave 100 days Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) in November said the closure was reached after increased complaints from residents about noise pollution.
“We cannot continue to complain about noise pollution in residential areas, bars, and clubs will have designated zones in the city within which they will operate in. I have also directed the enforcement teams to execute their full mandate and ensure noise pollution in residential areas becomes a thing of the past,” the governor said.
According to Director, the Liquor Board Rhoda Otieno clubs and bars operating within the residential areas will be licensed to operate until 11 pm.
“Quite a number of premises have complied with the directive issued in November 2022 and have made efforts to soundproof and operate within NCCG guidelines,” Otieno said.
“This proposal is set to be presented to members of the public for input through participation forums.”
