Nakuru: Masked Gunmen Raid Radio Station, Rob Presenters Live On Air

Police are looking for a gang that raided a private radio station in Nakuru County while presenters were live on air on Thursday night.

The robbery at the Mwinjoyo FM studios, which was caught on camera in a viral video, happened as the presenters were going about their show.

The matter has been reported to police who are now looking for the gang.

According to the CCTV footage that captured the drama a group of gun-wielding men in dark clothing and masks are seen storming the studio and ordering the presenters to switch off the transmission and lie on the floor.

At some point, one of the thugs confronted one of the presenters who is already lying on the floor, asking them “Nini unafanya wewe?” (what are you doing?) before stepping on them.

They then proceed to query the presenters on whether there is somebody else on the premises, presumably at an office upstairs, and whether there are CCTV cameras installed.

After learning there were no other people therein, they ran out and vanished into darkness.

Police believe the gang was familiar with the studio.

It is not clear if there were security guards there at the time of the incident.

Nakuru East police boss Martin Wekesa confirmed the incident, saying a probe is underway.

Nakuru has been experiencing a spike in crime incidents in the recent past amid a campaign to address the trend.

This has affected investments at large.
