Nyamira Family Devastated By Tragic Loss Of Five Relatives In Just One Month

A family in Nyasio, North Mugirango, Nyamira County, is living in dread following the unexplained deaths of six relatives over the past year, with five occurring in just the last month.

The latest tragedy struck last week when 67-year-old Jane Nyaboke and two of her daughters, aged 39 and 45, went missing, only to have their bodies discovered in separate locations within the county, raising fears that someone may be targeting the family.

The relatives are now calling on the police to accelerate investigations into these disturbing incidents to help alleviate their growing fears.

Mzee Hamisi’s family has been plunged into mourning yet again, as friends and neighbors gather to offer condolences amid an atmosphere thick with grief and confusion.

Peter Moturi, a family member, expressed the community’s distress, stating, “In the past year, six people have died here; five in just one month.”

Another relative, Bilhar Kerubo, echoed the sentiment, pleading for government assistance, saying, “People are being killed like chickens.”

The tragic sequence began when Jane and her daughter Edna left home for errands but failed to return.

The following day, their family learned that Jane’s other daughter, Lorna Kerubo, had also gone missing.

The discovery of their bodies in nearby thickets brought the family’s losses to five within just a month, intensifying the shock and fear in the community.

Moturi recounted the heartbreaking moment he confirmed the deaths: “I went to the mortuary and saw it was true; my mother and sister had passed away.”

Another relative, Fred, detailed the last known movements of the women, emphasizing the mystery surrounding their disappearance.

With the family expressing fears of being targeted for unknown reasons, they have criticized the police for their slow response in solving the mystery.

Abdalla Hamisi, another relative, remarked, “The police are not doing their job as they should; there have been deaths here, yet the police don’t follow up… the post-mortems yield no answers.”
