Kenya’s influential middleweight Rayton “Boom Boom” Okwiri and Tanzania’s Shabani Ally Ndaro today exchanged an icy face-off setting the tone for their main fight in tomorrow’s 11-bout professional boxing card at KICC’s Tsavo Ballroom.
The weigh-in of this Solid Rock Promotion Pocket Rocket show outside the national archives building attracted a sizeable crowd with Okwiri (8-1-1, 6 KOs) once again warning Ndaro (5-0-1, 2 KOs) to prepare himself for a painful 10 rounds.
“I want to entertain my fans, so I’ll not be in a hurry to KO my opponent but if I feel he’s not toeing my line I’ll not risk my image,” said Okwiri.
Ndaro was defiant despite his underdog tag: “I’m here for business, Kenyans will be shocked tomorrow because l will KO Okwiri, I’m stronger than him,” said the Arusha-based Ndaro, adding: “I also have a reach advantage.”
The show starts at 6 pm with the supporting bouts.
