One-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Family Well In Kiambu

A one-year-old boy died after accidentally drowning in a water well at his family’s home in Lari Sub-County, Kiambu County.

The incident occurred on Wednesday while the child was playing within the family’s compound.

Police said the boy’s mother was carrying out household chores at the time, while his grandfather was working on the family farm when the child accidentally fell into a water well located within the compound.

Family members retrieved the child from the well and alerted the area chief, who in turn informed the police.

The family requested permission from the police to proceed with the child’s burial.

Police have classified the incident as an accidental drowning.

Elsewhere, police in Murang’a County are investigating the death of a 44-year-old man whose body was found lying beside a road in Muchungucha village.

According to a police report, the body of Michael Mwangi Nduati was discovered on Wednesday morning near Faith Church in Muchungucha area.

Police visited the scene and established that the deceased was lying beside the road.

Police said Nduati was last seen alive on Tuesday at around 1:00 p.m. at Muchungucha Trading Centre.

A preliminary examination revealed that the body had no visible physical injuries.

Crime scene personnel processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to the Murang’a Level 5 Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.

Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
