Azimio allied MPs Thursday staged a walkout of House proceedings over a move to extend sitting hours.
They said they “cannot sanitize illegalities.”
The minority side protested the move by the majority party Kenya Kwanza to extend the sittings until the conclusion of the day’s business.
The MPs led by Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi and Whip Junet Mohamed said the events “were a return of the dark days of the KANU regime.”
The leaders hinted at taking up the option of street protests, sparked by Kenya Kwanza’s move to challenge the changes to the panel that will hire new commissioners to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
The House was set to debate the list of 51 PSs on Thursday. The PSs are set to be sworn into office on Friday, December 2, 2022, after undergoing vetting.
