Police in Belgut, Kericho County, recovered the partially decomposed body of a 35-year-old man from a quarry in Torit village, Kaptoboito Location.
The body of Bernard Kibet was discovered floating in the quarry on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, after a member of the public spotted it.
Police officers visited the scene and confirmed the report.
The body was retrieved from the quarry water with the assistance of the Kericho County Disaster Response Team.
Police identified the deceased as Kibet, who was reportedly believed to have had a mental disability.
His body was taken to the Kericho County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Elsewhere, a 22-year-old man has drowned while bathing in River Mwandaje in Jibana Location, Kaloleni, Kilifi County.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, September 22, 2026, at Mwana-Wigi village in Tsagwa Sub-location.
According to police, the deceased, identified as Delvis Ngala Mwajira, went to the river, about 300 meters from his home, at around 5.38pm to take a bath.
His family became concerned at about 6.20pm after he failed to return home and went to look for him.
On reaching the riverbank, the family members found his clothes beside the river. A subsequent search led to the discovery of his body floating in the water.
The family members retrieved the body and took it home before reporting the incident to police.
Police said the body had foam coming from the nose but no visible external injuries. The deceased was reportedly a former epilepsy patient.
The body was taken to Kilifi Referral Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
And police have recovered skeletonized human remains from a bush in Dowale area, Tana North Sub-County, Tana River County.
The remains were discovered on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and reported to officers at Charidende Police Station.
Police officers visited the scene and established that the remains belonged to an unidentified person.
Preliminary assessment indicated that the remains could have been at the scene for more than three weeks.
The area where the remains were found is uninhabited and inaccessible by road, making it difficult for officers to reach the scene.
Crime scene personnel processed the area before the human remains were collected for transportation to Garissa County Referral Hospital mortuary.
The remains will be preserved pending a postmortem examination and efforts to establish the identity of the deceased and circumstances surrounding the death.
