Police Probe Death Of 25-Year-Old Assault Victim In Kiambu

Police in Githurai Sub-County are investigating the death of a 25-year-old man who succumbed to injuries after allegedly being assaulted by unknown attackers.

The deceased, identified as Dennis Kibutu Kiarie, was found injured at Northlands Farm in Mwiihoko after his father received a phone call seeking help.

The caller used a telephone number provided by the victim to alert his father that Kiarie had been assaulted. Guided by the caller, the father rushed to Northlands Farm, where he found his son in severe pain.

He took the victim to Lang’ata Hospital in Githurai Kimbo before he was referred to Gatundu Level 5 Hospital for specialised treatment.

Police said Kiarie later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Officers visited both the scene at Northlands Farm and the mortuary, where they observed visible defensive injuries on both of the deceased’s arms.

The body was preserved pending a post-mortem examination.

Police said the motive for the attack has not yet been established, and investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible.

Elsewhere, police have launched investigations into the murder of a 77-year-old man whose body was found near Makomboani Dispensary in Kaloleni Sub-county, Kilifi County.

The deceased was identified by relatives as Chengo Katana Yaa.

According to police, Yaa left his home at about 8 a.m. on July 8 to seek medical treatment at Makomboani Dispensary but failed to return home.

His family began searching for him before receiving information at around 9 p.m. that he had been found dead.

Detectives visited the scene, located about 200 metres from the dispensary, where they found the body lying face down in a pool of blood.

Police said the deceased had sustained multiple deep cuts to the head, believed to have been inflicted using a sharp object.

The scene was processed and documented before the body was transferred to Kilifi County Referral Hospital Mortuary for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.

No arrests have been made, and no murder weapon has been recovered as investigations continue.
