A police recruit will be dismissed from Kiganjo Police College after he attacked his squad leader with a slasher.

The recruit who was on training as a police constable will also be charged with assault following the incident.

He was scheduled to graduate from college next year in March.

Trouble started when the trainee officer, Paul Imbenzi, failed to collect litter as instructed by his squad leader during last Friday’s morning manual work session.

Police said the suspect reached for a slasher after a brief argument and attacked his squad leader inflicting injuries on his head.

The suspect was arrested and detained at Kiganjo Police Station where he was booked for assault while awaiting to be arraigned in court to answer to his crimes.

The incident shocked the entire college fraternity as the National Police College’s main Campus is an institution where civilians are shaped into disciplined police officers.

The assaulted police recruit was treated at the college dispensary and discharged in fair condition.
