Police in Kuria has arrested one suspect and seized 178 kilos of bhang with a street value of Sh2.4 million.
Kuria West sub-county police commander Cleti Kimaiyo has said that the bhang was seized from different homesteads during a crackdown by police acting on a tip-off.
The first batch of bhang was recovered from a homestead belonging to Thomas Nsoto at Bimaiti village in the Ngochoni sub-location yesterday evening.
It had a street value of Sh855, 000.
Police also did a similar crackdown in Nyangiti village where they managed to seize five sacks of bhang weighing 150 kilos and a street value of Sh1.5 million at the homestead of Gibebe Jackson.
The owner of the house was not present during the raid but said police, he must have escaped after being tipped off their impending arrival.
