Pope Leo XIV has started a major pastoral visit across Africa, running from April 13 to 23.
The 70-year-old pontiff will travel through Algeria, Cameroon, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea, visiting 11 cities and taking 18 flights.
During the trip, he is set to lead eight public Masses and deliver over 20 speeches.
Large crowds are expected, including about 600,000 people in Douala, Cameroon, and 200,000 in Luanda, Angola.
The visit focuses on peace, support for the poor, interfaith dialogue, and family values.
Along the way, the pope will also visit prisons, hospitals, orphanages, and care homes.
In Algeria, he will promote Christian-Muslim dialogue and visit sites linked to St. Augustine.
In Cameroon, he will pray for peace in conflict-affected regions. In Angola, he will engage with one of Africa’s largest Catholic populations.
The trip will end in Equatorial Guinea, where he will visit community institutions and lead a major Mass.
The tour concludes with his return to Rome on April 23.
