President William Ruto has assured the public that fuel prices will soon see a decrease, emphasizing his government’s commitment to improving the cost of living.
During a visit to Kisii County on Saturday, following an event in Cardinal Otunga, Kitutu Chache South Constituency, the president acknowledged the challenges surrounding fuel prices.
He pointed out that, despite being influenced by external factors, recent global trends indicate a stabilization in fuel prices.
Ruto urged Kenyans to be patient as the economy stabilizes, ensuring that the previously record-high fuel prices have begun to decline.
However, the president clarified that he cannot directly control fuel costs, as they are determined by external factors.
He said, “Najua mmenipigia makofi lakini sii mimi napunguza au kuongeza bei … kuna majamaa wengine huko ngambo wao ndio wanatupea bei ya mafuta kila mwezi.”
Defending his foreign trips, Ruto emphasized their benefits in strengthening trade ties and creating job opportunities for Kenyans abroad.
Accompanied by leaders including Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, the president’s team expressed optimism about the country’s economic recovery, endorsing the Kenya Kwanza manifesto.
Kisii Governor Simba Arati appealed for collaboration between the president and county governments to ensure timely disbursement of revenue, allowing devolved units to function smoothly.
Senator Onyonga, despite being in the opposition, pledged to criticize the government where necessary.
Leaders from Gusii requested the president to allocate time for a development tour of the larger Gusii region.
