At a vibrant ceremony held at State House in Nairobi on Tuesday, President Ruto praised Odinga’s leadership credentials, expressing full confidence in his ability to head the AUC.
“I present to you a visionary Pan-African leader bold, wise, and highly skilled.
He is a distinguished statesman and a seasoned advocate for positive change.
I am certain that he will work tirelessly to elevate Africa’s standing on the global stage and bring pride to our continent,” Ruto stated.
Ruto highlighted Odinga’s deep expertise and comprehensive grasp of African and global issues.
Which he believes are vital for advancing the African Union’s role in global affairs and connecting with the people.
“Odinga is the ideal candidate to unlock Africa’s potential as a major economic force and drive the continent’s transformative agenda for future generations,” he added.
The President emphasized Kenya’s commitment to enhancing Africa’s development through AU reforms and expressed confidence that supporting a highly qualified candidate aligns with this goal.
“Our support for Odinga reflects Kenya’s dedication to the Pan-African vision and the transformation of our continent through its institutions,” Ruto noted.
He urged other African leaders to unite in backing Odinga’s candidacy, advocating for a future marked by freedom, democracy, stability, security, peace, and prosperity.
“Our mission at the African Union Commission is a collective responsibility of all Africans, aimed at realizing the promising future that all our peoples and nations deserve,” Ruto said.
In response, Odinga has pledged to tackle the challenges head-on and drive substantial changes across the continent if elected.
He has already received backing from numerous Eastern African leaders and will be supported by a secretariat.
Led by Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei and former Kenyan Ambassador to the United States, Elkana Odembo.
