President William Ruto convened discussions with the Haiti Transitional Presidential Council, demonstrating Kenya’s intent to dispatch approximately 1,000 police officers for a peacekeeping initiative in the strife-ridden Caribbean nation.
Remaining resolute in his commitment, President Ruto emphasized Kenya’s allegiance to the principles of multilateralism as outlined in the United Nations Charter.
He declared, “We will uphold the collective principles of humanity, fostering peace, security, and stability.”
Moreover, President Ruto affirmed the establishment of communication channels as part of ongoing efforts to restore tranquility in Haiti.
Engineer Edgard Leblanc Fils leads the Haiti Transitional Presidential Council, which assumed office in April with the aim of reinstating security in the tumultuous nation.
In response to the council’s formation, President Ruto commended the change in leadership, recognizing it as a pivotal stride in Haiti’s political evolution.
He remarked, “The TPC is tasked with swiftly re-establishing crucial state organs essential for restoring law and order and instilling hope among all Haitians, as mandated by the April 12, 2024 Decree.”
