President William Samoei Ruto has officially received the report on the recruitment of nominees for the positions of Chairperson and Members of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) from the IEBC Selection Panel at State House, Nairobi.
The Head of State praised the panel, led by Dr. Nelson Makanda, for its thorough and dedicated efforts in conducting the recruitment process.
“I commend the panel, chaired by Dr. Nelson Makanda, for their diligent and commendable work,” President Ruto stated.
In line with the requirements of the IEBC Act, President Ruto affirmed that he will proceed to nominate the selected individuals and forward their names to the National Assembly, ensuring the process adheres strictly to the constitutional principles that govern the country’s democratic institutions.
“In accordance with the provisions of the IEBC Act, I will nominate and transmit the names to the National Assembly in full fidelity to the constitutional principles that guide our system of governance,” he added.
The appointments are a crucial step in reconstituting the electoral body ahead of upcoming electoral processes.
