Purity Museo, a prominent media personality and journalist, has carved her path to success with determination and a relentless pursuit of her dreams. Starting as a volunteer, she now stands as one of the most sought-after journalists at the State-owned Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
Early Life
Born in Tseikuru, a village in Mwingi, Purity Museo attended Musavani Primary School. Even at a young age, she harbored aspirations of becoming a news anchor, inspired by watching journalist Zain Asher on CNN. After completing her Kenya Certificate of Primary Examinations (KCPE), she expressed her desire to study journalism, setting her sights on turning her childhood dream into reality.
Her journey led her to Moi University in Eldoret, where she became the leader of a special scribes group named Third Eye. Graduating in 2016, she laid the foundation for her future career.
Purity Museo Career
Purity Museo’s pursuit of a career in journalism did not come without challenges. Following university, she actively sought employment, eventually landing a volunteer opportunity at Ebru TV. Despite the fierce competition for jobs, Museo’s work ethic and dedication earned her a reputation, and she began volunteering throughout the week. Starting with a modest monthly income of Ksh5,000, she steadily progressed.

Her breakthrough moment came on December 31, 2017, when a news anchor fell ill, and Museo stepped up to read the 9pm news. This marked the beginning of a more significant opportunity, leading to a contract and a monthly income of Ksh20,000, along with additional perks.
In 2018, Purity Museo joined KBC, where she continues to thrive as a news anchor. Despite facing challenges, including being temporarily removed from anchoring due to her accent, Museo’s resilience propelled her forward.
Purity Museo Awards
Purity Museo’s contributions to journalism have been acknowledged with prestigious awards. In 2021, she received two Zikomo awards in Zambia, including the Best TV Personality in Africa Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award. Additionally, she was honored with the Uzalendo Award in 2020, recognizing her role in mitigating the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
Facing Challenges and Seeking Support
Beyond her professional achievements, Purity Museo has candidly shared personal challenges. In September 2023, she spoke out about a persistent stalker, seeking help to address the situation. This unfortunate experience highlighted the darker side of fame.
A Humble Reminder of Her Journey
In an inspirational post, Purity Museo disclosed that, at one point, she worked as a househelp to fund her journalism studies. Encouraging her followers not to give up on their dreams, she emphasized the importance of patience and perseverance, stating, “It can only get better.”
