Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga will Saturday jet out of the country for a one-week visit to the United States.
Odinga is scheduled to attend the U.S. – Africa leaders summit that will be held in Washington, D.C.
Odinga will leave the country on Saturday and arrive in the U.S. on Monday, then participate in the summit from December 13 – 15, 2022.
“He will be attending the meeting in his capacity as the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development. In that capacity, he will lead discussions on the promotion of investment in infrastructure and attainment of Just Energy Transition,” said a spokesman Dennis Onyango.
“Mr. Odinga is also lined up for a series of meetings with leaders from the public and private sectors and civil society organizations on the sidelines of the Summit.”
“He will be back in the country by December 18, 2022, to proceed with planned public programs,” said Onyango.
The U.S trip, which will see Mr. Odinga miss the Jamhuri Day fete, comes after his political camp had called off its planned parallel celebrations
