Police are holding a manager of Rixxos Club in Kitengela over allegations of harassment.
This was after one of the female employees there claimed harassment.
The man, only identified as James, has reportedly been in hiding since a video capturing the alleged harassment, which has since gone viral, emerged last week.
Isinya sub-county Police Commander Ancient Kaloki said the suspect was nabbed on Tuesday at around 5 pm at Green Ice in Kitengela after reportedly coming out of hiding.
Kaloki said they had been looking for the embattled businessman for questioning and that he was under interrogation at the Kitengela Police Station.
The female employee captured in the viral video allegedly being harassed by James recorded her statement with police on December 9, 2022, with five of her colleagues who accused the director of the club of using his alleged connections with people in high places including the “president” to intimidate them.
The joint said waitresses and the barman stormed the Rixxos premises and threatened the management leading to the drama that ensued.
The management said the six workers were under investigation following suspicions of stealing and defrauding the company, claims which the complainants dismissed as false.
“Recently as the Rixxos management, we had an issue with a few of our waitresses and our barman which we reported to the local DCI office on 24th November 2022 upon which they offered help and arrested the workers on 1st December 2022 on suspicion of stealing and defrauding from the company,” read the statement released on Friday last week.
“After wide consultation with our IT department regarding losses, we have been recording the past few weeks, we followed some leads and came to the conclusion it was through the use of past M-Pesa codes in our systems to settle the current bills of our customers.”
Rixxos management added the staff was later released on bond to allow for investigations to continue.
They however allegedly opted to storm the entertainment joint demanding their pay and hence the birth of the viral video.
“After release, they came to our premises threatening the management and hence the drama began between our management and the aforesaid workers who were asking for their monthly salary and that’s where we made it clear that we could not pay them until the investigation is completed,” said Rixxos.
“You can’t take me anywhere, I talk to the president directly. If I decide to sit on you you will suffer,” the manager said in the video.
