Roam Unveils Kenya’s First “Ride-In, Ride-Out” Service Centre to Serve 3,500 Motorcycles Monthly

Electric mobility firm Roam has launched Kenya’s first “ride-in, ride-out” service centre in Nairobi, a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide quick, reliable after-sales support for electric motorcycle riders.

Located on Lusaka Road, the new Roam – Nairobi Service Centre can serve up to 3,500 riders each month, marking a major milestone in Kenya’s shift toward sustainable transport. The fully digital facility features advanced vehicle tracking, warranty services, repairs, sales, and charging stations all under one roof.

Unlike conventional workshops, the centre introduces a “first ride-in” system, where riders receive immediate attention upon arrival and can observe their motorcycles being diagnosed and repaired. The centre is equipped to handle 10 motorcycles simultaneously and up to 150 daily, drastically cutting downtime for boda boda riders who rely on daily income to support their families and service loans.

Currently, the centre will cater exclusively to Roam Air motorcycle owners. However, the company has ambitious plans to make the service centre interoperable, allowing riders of all electric motorcycle brands in the future to access the same facilities.

Roam Country Manager, Habib Lukaya, said the new service centre is a crucial step toward making electric transport more practical and profitable for riders.

“This shop is built for riders. Every hour a rider spends off the road is income lost. By giving fast and reliable service, we are helping them save more money every day while also preparing for a future where all electric motorcycles can use the same charging and service network,” Lukaya said.

The company also announced plans to expand similar centres to other major towns and cities across Kenya, creating a nationwide network to support seamless operations and encourage the adoption of electric mobility.

Roam, which was recognised globally as an Earthshot Prize finalist and listed among Norrsken’s 2024 Impact/100 startups, continues to lead Africa’s e-mobility revolution. Earlier this year, the company gained global attention after completing a 6,000-kilometre solar-powered journey from Nairobi to Stellenbosch using the Roam Air motorcycle, proving the practicality of electric transport on the continent.

In 2025, the Financial Times named Roam as Kenya’s fastest-growing company and Africa’s fastest-growing e-mobility firm, cementing its position as a pioneer in clean transport innovation.

With this new service centre, Roam isn’t merely selling electric motorcycles, it is building the ecosystem to sustain them, ensuring that Kenya’s transition to green transport isn’t just visionary but viable.
