Russian Actress Killed In Ukrainian Strike During Troop Performance

A Russian actress, Polina Menshikh, lost her life in a Ukrainian strike while entertaining troops in an occupied dance hall.

The tragic event occurred on November 19, when the venue in occupied Ukraine was hit by shelling.

Ms. Menshikh was reportedly staging a performance to commemorate a Russian military holiday.

The dance hall, with a capacity of approximately 150 people, became the target of the strike, resulting in the untimely death of the actress.

A video circulating on social media purportedly captures the moment of the strike.

In the footage, Ms. Menshikh is seen on stage, singing and playing the guitar, before an explosion occurs, plunging the hall into darkness.

She succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.

Ukrainian authorities confirmed the strike, stating that around 20 Russian soldiers lost their lives in the incident.

However, Russian authorities have not yet provided any comments on this claim.

The strike occurred approximately 60km (37 miles) from the front line, in the village of Kumachove, situated in the Donetsk region, which has been under Russian occupation since 2014.

The theatre studio associated with Ms. Menshikh, Portal, based in St Petersburg, announced that an upcoming performance of a play she had previously directed would be dedicated to her memory.

The tragedy has sparked controversy, with Russian pro-war bloggers criticizing the organization of the show.

They argued that concentrating dozens of soldiers in one location made it an obvious target for a Ukrainian strike.

Despite differing opinions on the circumstances, the loss of Polina Menshikh has left a void in the world of performing arts.
