Police arrested a Russian national after claims he had used a fake identity card to book a room at a hotel in Diani, Kwale County.
The motive of the incident was not immediately known.
Snezhko Fedo had on September 21, 2025 arrived at the Millennium Hotel in the area and used an identity card belonging to a Tanzanian to book the room.
The hotel management realized the false identity and alerted the police who arrived and detained him for further grilling.
Police said they are investigating the motive and will take further action on the man.
This came as authorities heightened operations in the area and other parts of the country during the twelfth anniversary of the Westgate Mall attack.
On September 21, 2013, four masked men attacked the shopping mall in a siege that left at least 70 people dead.
