One person died from a police gunshot wound in Kisumu on Friday following day-long Saba Saba Day protests.
The protests which were also called to denounce the high cost of living took place in most parts of the country including Nairobi, Kakamega, Kisii, Mombasa, Machakos, Meru, Nyahururu, Nakuru, Lodwar, and Kitale.
Police and health officials said two other people are nursing gunshot wounds at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) following the skirmishes.
The hospital Administrator Alex Ochieng said the fatal incident occurred in Obunga slums where the middle-aged man is said to have been shot by police.
Ochieng said one of those in the hospital was shot in the chest at Kondele area while another one had a bullet wound in the leg at the Chulaimbo area of Kisumu West sub-county.
Ochieng said the two are in stable condition and are set for surgical operation.
He said four other people are admitted to the hospital having suffered injuries from blunt objects.
The protests were largely peaceful until when police arrived to disperse the group.

In Kisii, at least one person was also injured in the protests. In Nairobi, more than 10 cars were damaged by police who were throwing tear gas canisters and using live bullets.
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority said they are investigating the incidents.
