Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Party leader Raila Odinga’s vehicle was among cars that were on Friday damaged during running battles between protesters and anti-riot police.
Odinga had convened a rally at Kamukunji Grounds where he rallied his supporters to kickstart an initiative he says is aimed at pushing president William Ruto and his government out of office.
Raila had maneuvered his way to the central business district when people believed to be police targeted his cars. At least four other cars and the one that was carrying Raila were damaged by teargas and bullets fired by police.
Police say they are investigating the incident saying there were no such orders to target cars.

The was however be met with force by a heavily armed contingent of anti-riot police officers determined to ensure the thousands of protesters following the opposition leader do not make their way into the city centre.
Police had said the city centre was a no-go zone for the Saba Saba demonstrations.
During the melee, several vehicles on the opposition leader’s convoy including his vehicle got their rear windows shattered.
The Azimio leaders were forced to scamper for safety and head to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation (JOOF) centre where the damage on the vehicles were inspected in front of the press.
Odinga claimed his vehicle was hit by a live bullet fired by police whom he claim were aiming for his life.
Police say they are investigating the incident.
