Today, students at Kathaana DEB Secondary School were shocked to be sent back home following a disturbing incident.
A school watchman was discovered dead on the school premises, with several offices broken into during the night.
This unfortunate event unfolded at Kathaan Market along the Kangundo Machakos highway in Kangundo Sub County.
Patrick Nzioka, the younger brother of the deceased watchman, received a distressing call in the morning from one of the school’s cooks, informing him of the tragic news.
Rushing to the scene, Nzioka found his brother’s lifeless body, blood trickling from his mouth and nose.
The late watchman, the seventh child in his family, had only begun working at the school a week prior.

An eyewitness, Athanus Ndolo Mutinda, a local businessman, urged authorities to launch a thorough investigation into the incident.
He expressed concern over the escalating crime rate, noting a similar incident at Kyamulendu Secondary and Primary School not long ago. Mutinda suggested the presence of an organized criminal group wreaking havoc in the area.

He promptly notified the relevant authorities, including the OCPD and OCS, who swiftly arrived to initiate investigations.
Subsequently, the police removed the body and transferred it to Kangundo Hospital mortuary for further procedures.
