Second Suspect Arrested Over Viral Parklands Robbery

Detectives arrested a second suspect linked to a violent robbery in Parklands, Nairobi, that was captured in a viral video showing a member of the public being attacked and robbed of valuables.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the suspect, identified as Emmanuel Akolo, alias Murife, was arrested during an intelligence-led operation in Deep Sea slums within the Parklands-Highridge area.

His arrest marks a breakthrough in investigations into the robbery, which sparked concern after footage of the brazen attack circulated widely on social media.

According to the DCI, intelligence gathered by detectives linked Akolo to the incident, leading to his arrest as investigators intensified efforts to track down the gang members involved.

The latest development comes after the earlier arrest of another suspect in connection with the robbery, bringing the number of suspects in custody to two.

Detectives are now pursuing a third suspect who remains at large, as investigations continue to establish the full circumstances of the incident and the roles played by those involved.

Akolo remains in custody as detectives complete his processing ahead of his arraignment in court.

The DCI reiterated its commitment to pursuing suspects linked to violent crime, dismantling criminal networks and ensuring those responsible are brought before the courts.

The arrest comes amid heightened public attention on street robberies and violent attacks in Nairobi, with the circulation of video footage increasingly drawing attention to criminal incidents and prompting calls for swift investigations.
