Siaya Governor James Orengo has chosen Prof. Jacqueline Adhiambo Oduol, a former nominated Member of Parliament, for a crucial role in his administration.
She’s been nominated to be a part of the County Executive Committee (CEC) as a member responsible for Water, Sanitation, Environment, Climate Change, and Natural Resources.
Prof. Oduol’s name is on the list of nominees that the governor has presented to the County Assembly for their consideration.
If the County Assembly approves her appointment, Prof. Oduol will be in charge of the water-related responsibilities, which have been vacant since Dr. Julie Onyango was removed from the position due to alleged misconduct.
Other nominees put forward by Governor Orengo for key Chief Officer positions include Jacktone Odinga (Budget and Planning), Ajuul Okoth Kevin (Energy and Transport), Samuel Omondi Owino (Health), Judith Oyugi (Water and Sanitation), and Adongo Elizabeth Atieno (Agriculture).
Additionally, there are more nominees for the positions of Chief Officers, including Oliech Michael Ombambo (Enterprise and Industrial Development) and Dr. Nicholas Kut Ochogo (Youth, Gender, and Social Services).
These appointments will be discussed and decided upon by the County Assembly.
If approved, the nominees will then be formally confirmed by the Governor to start their official duties.
