Sudan’s leader is worried that the war in his country might spread to nearby African nations.

General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who is basically in charge of Sudan, told the United Nations (UN) about this concern.

He also asked the global community to label his opponents, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), as terrorists.

At the same time, RSF leader Hamdan Dagalo said he’s ready for a ceasefire.

Sudan has been dealing with a civil war since April, and it’s been really deadly.

A couple of years ago, these two generals staged a coup together.

But recently, they’ve been fighting against each other because of a power struggle.

This has led to a lot of violence.

General Burhan talked to the UN and said that his group is willing to have peace talks.

He wants to end the war and ease the suffering of his people.

However, he said that the RSF doesn’t want peace.

But in a rare video message to the UN, General Dagalo (also known as Hemedti) said he’s ready to talk and make peace.

The civil war in Sudan started in April when the RSF soldiers were sent across the country.

General Burhan’s army saw this as a threat, and it’s unclear who started the fighting, but it spread quickly.

This war has killed at least 7,500 people and forced millions to leave their homes.

General Burhan has been traveling around the world, trying to get support from other countries.

He also mentioned that the RSF is connected to a Russian mercenary group called Wagner, which is active in different African countries.

He believes that the war in Sudan is not just a problem for his country but also a threat to peace in the region and the world.

He argued that the RSF should be seen as a terrorist group because they have been involved in a lot of terrible actions like killing, burning, raping, and more.

He said they need to be held accountable for their crimes.

“The danger of this war is now a threat to regional and international peace and security as those rebels have sought the support of outlaws and terrorist groups from different countries in the region and the world,” he said.

But General Burhan has also been criticized for his actions during the conflict.

The UN envoy to Sudan, Volker Perthes, said that both generals are to blame for causing this war.

He accused the RSF of violence and Sudanese armed forces of bombing areas with civilians.

The RSF fighters are in crowded cities, and the Sudanese military has attacked these areas, which has caused a lot of harm to innocent people.

The United States has already put sanctions on RSF leaders, including General Dagalo.

However, Western countries have also criticized General Burhan for his role in the 2021 coup that led to the removal of Sudan’s main political party.
