Siaya County authorities are currently probing a shocking incident at St. Andrew’s Bondo Catholic Church, where an unidentified individual allegedly trespassed and desecrated a statue of Jesus.
According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the incident was promptly reported at the Bondo police station by Rev.
Father Edwin Obudho, the parish priest. Kimaiyo revealed that subsequent reports also highlighted the disappearance of the revered statue, a prominent fixture at the church altar.
Upon meticulous examination of the CCTV footage, it was discerned that an unknown individual, attired in a black and white striped shirt with black trousers, illicitly entered the church premises during a moment of profound prayer by a handful of congregants.
Allegedly, the suspect then made his way to the upper gallery, where the statue had been surreptitiously concealed, before descending to the altar to seize it.
In a reprehensible act, the suspect purportedly defiled the statue before exiting the church premises.
