Police officers in Nandi County Wednesday arrested a suspect believed to be behind the killing of a Karatina University student.
Phyllis Jepleting, a Maths/Biology student at Karatina University, was found dead in Naka estate in a house said to belong to the suspect.
The body was decomposing when it was discovered on Boxing Day December 26.
He has been missing since the incident happened and is linked to the incident.
An autopsy conducted on the deceased’s body revealed that she died of strangulation
Police said Ezra Kipkemei, 29 was arrested at Kibwareng health center where he had gone to seek medication days after allegedly going into hiding.
Nandi South OCPD John Owuoth said police acted on a tip off from a member public who had spotted the suspect at the said facility.
He will be transferred to Nakuru where he is alleged to have committed the crime, police said.
The motive of the incident is yet to be known.
Reports indicate that she had received Sh2,600 from her parents for Christmas festivities, as she was not expected to travel home.
Jepleting decided to visit her boyfriend who works as a security guard in Nakuru.
Neighbors last saw her alive at the boyfriend’s house on December 26.
