Police are holding a man who was found with several rolls of bhang outside Naivasha Maximum Prisons.
It is suspected he wanted to smuggle the narcotics to the inmates there at a fee.
Both police and the prisons are now investigating who wanted to facilitate the movement of the narcotics into the facility before the suspect was arrested on Sunday afternoon.
The suspect identified as James Mwangi Karanja, 32 was arrested at the perimeter wall of the facility and on being searched, he was found in possession of 360 rolls and three brooms of bhang, which was wrapped and placed in a black laptop bag.
Police said the value of the narcotics was Sh260,000.
Consumption of bhang in the facilities is common and is facilitated by some wardens.
The case is under probe, police said.
