A suspect detained for interrogation took police to his house where a homemade gun and tear gas canister were recovered in Kawangware, Nairobi.
Police said they also recovered a Nokia mobile phone suspected to have been stolen, one Samsung Tablet, and one machete among others.
The male adult suspect was arrested and placed in custody pending arraignment.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect and his male accomplice who is still at large, are linked to an earlier robbery incident that occurred on Monday morning and the same reported at Waithaka Police Station.
Meanwhile, a teenager suspected of killing a man in Marsabit town and fleeing was arrested on Boxing Day.
The 19-year-old, who is believed to have murdered one Muhammed Abdi Jaldesa in cold blood last Thursday, was arrested by Marsabit-based detectives.
The suspect is set to be arraigned on Wednesday to face murder charges.
His arrest comes just days after three suspected members of a car theft syndicate were arrested in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
The three were found to be in possession of an assortment of weapons including two AK-47 rifles, 9 rounds of ammunition, 9 arrows and a jungle police uniform.
Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Ayub Ali said the arrest was a result of intelligence reports from investigative agencies in conjunction with members of the public.
Ali said the three might be part of a car theft syndicate since several fake number plates and log books were also found in the house where they lived.
“One of the suspects had a fake police identification card which means these individuals impersonate police officers when committing crimes. The court has allowed us 14 days to finish our investigation and we shall leave no stone unturned,” said Nyale then.
The syndicate has a specific number of vehicles they target for theft while masquerading as police officers with ammunition, whose serial numbers he says have been tampered with.
