A recent incident in Siaya County has shocked residents as a suspected thief faced a tragic end at the hands of an enraged mob.
According to County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the individual in question was targeted after allegedly stealing a mobile phone.
In a statement, Kimaiyo revealed, “He was lynched by irate members of the public near Sinaga along Siaya-Luanda road in Gem Yala on Friday evening.”

The victim, who remains unidentified, eventually succumbed to the injuries sustained during the assault.
They were rushed to Yala Sub County Hospital for urgent medical attention, but unfortunately, they could not be saved.
Authorities became aware of the situation when a report reached Yala police station, indicating that a suspected phone thief was being subjected to mob violence.
Rushing to the scene at Sinaga, law enforcement officers discovered the suspect lying in a pool of blood.
In the aftermath, the deceased’s body was transferred to the hospital’s morgue, where it awaits further examination through an autopsy and proper identification.
