The defendants, Thomas Kipyatich Kiptoo, Amos Mutai, and Samuel Rono, were each fined sh 30,000 or face one year in prison if they fail to pay.
Chief Magistrate Dennis Mikoyan handed down the sentence after the trio was found guilty of impersonation, as outlined in Section 382 of the Penal Code.
They were charged with falsely presenting themselves as ADAK officers to defraud athlete Paul Kipchumba Lonyangata between September and October 2021 in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
Kiptoo, who also went by the names Ali Thamer Kamal and Thomas Kiprotich, faced additional charges for impersonating an ADAK official to deceive athlete Purity Jebichii Changwony.
