Police are looking for a gang of three that raided a supermarket in Mutanga shopping center, Laikipia county and stole Sh20,000.
The gang was armed with a pistol when they went to the supermarket on Wednesday night.
Witnesses said they barricaded the entrance and shot into the air twice while demanding cash.
Police on patrol responded there and shot at the gang but they managed to escape on foot.
It was in the process that one of the suspects dropped his mobile phone while escaping.
The gadget is under analysis to identify the owner as a part of efforts to trace the gang, police said.
