A two-year-old boy tragically died in a fire incident in the Pentagon area of Kamkunji, Nairobi, on Tuesday night.
His four-year-old brother is currently fighting for his life at Kenyatta National Hospital after suffering severe burns.
The fire broke out while their mother was away, leaving the two children alone in the house. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
The remains of the young boy were moved to the mortuary as investigations continue.
In another devastating fire incident in Mukurweini, Nyeri County, a three-year-old boy was killed when a fire broke out in a house in Ngor village.
The fire quickly spread to two neighboring houses, flattening all three structures. Despite the efforts of the Nyeri County fire brigade, the houses were completely destroyed, and nothing was salvaged.
The remains of the three-year-old were later found in the debris, burned beyond recognition.
His body was moved to Mukurweini Subcounty Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.
In a separate incident, police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in the Nairobi River near the T-Mall area.
The body was discovered by mechanics working nearby.
Authorities suspect foul play, as they believe the man may have been killed and dumped at the scene, but they are also considering the possibility of drowning.
The body was retrieved and moved to the City Mortuary for identification and postmortem.
Meanwhile, in Kobuya village, Rachuonyo, Homa Bay County, a man accused of being a rapist was lynched by a mob.
Police arrived at the scene to find the man with multiple injuries.
He was taken to Gendia Hospital but succumbed to his injuries upon arrival.
His body was moved to the hospital mortuary for postmortem.
Police have condemned mob justice, urging the public to refrain from such actions, as they are criminal offenses.
