The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has unveiled an opportunity for 20,000 internship positions aimed at teachers for Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) as part of its initiative to bolster the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
This announcement was made in a notice on the TSC’s official website.
The internship program, which will last for 12 months, is designed to equip unemployed teachers with essential practical experience and insights into the educational work environment.
Interns will receive a monthly stipend of sh. 20,000, subject to applicable statutory deductions.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be awarded a certificate.
Aspiring interns must submit their applications online via the TSC website by November 4, 2024.
To be eligible, candidates must be Kenyan citizens, registered with the TSC, and hold at least a Diploma in Education, with a minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ (plus).
Applicants are required to provide a range of original academic and professional documents, including a Teacher Registration Certificate, a National Identity Card or Passport, and, if applicable, a National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) card.
Additional documentation needed includes two recent color passport-sized photos, a Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN), and proof of Personal Accident Insurance to cover potential risks during the internship.
Moreover, candidates must be currently unemployed and should not have held a permanent and pensionable position within the Commission previously.
The TSC has indicated that successful applicants will be assigned to Junior Secondary Schools in the county where they were interviewed, or to other locations within the country where vacancies are available.
The selection process will be strictly merit-based, aligned with the number of vacancies in each county.
